Kathleen CorcoranCommunications Specialist
Kathleen Corcoran has over twenty years experience as a journalist, media relations specialist, speechwriter, documentary producer, editor, ghost writer, communications strategist and consultant. Her clients have included Fortune 100 companies, health care practices, non-profit organizations, Washington DC-based law firms, the UN, and Congress. She has written for and consulted with CEOs, members of Congress, academicians, scientists, physicians, lawyers and non-profit leaders. She specializes in translating professional parlance into lay language for targeted audiences.
Kathleen worked for Cornell University for nearly a decade as a media relations and public affairs specialist. In this position she established new alliances between Cornell University and The Hill newspaper, The Smithsonian Associates Program and other entities.
Along with her work for CSR, Kathleen teaches writing at Northern Virginia Community College. She has served on the boards of the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and The Fishing School, a program for underserved children in Washington DC. Kathleen has also been a host to several foreign exchange students from around the world.
Kathleen is particularly passionate about helping individuals, corporations, organizations and foundations communicate their messages clearly. She believes clarity is the foundation to success.
Kathleen has received two writing awards from the International Association of Business Communicators and a Telly Award for a documentary she produced. She received a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin.
